What does God want from you?
222Leadership Seminary is excited to partner with Calvin Theological Seminary where Calvin Seminary provides an accredited M.A. program with 222Leadership Seminary being key to providing students local, contextual mentoring, discipleship, and ministry leadership training.
Together we will explore what God may be calling you to do. We will teach the important Biblical foundations and will work with you to achieve real-life skills.
The initial program that will be offered at 222Leadership Seminary, in partnership with CTS and its Empower program, will be an MACL (Masters of Arts in Christian Leadership). The MACL will consist of 39 credit hours, all of which are fully transferable into the Masters of Divinity Program offered at CTS should students wish to continue their studies. The MACL is a fully recognized Master’s Degree and is accredited at CTS through the Association of Theological Schools.
Ancient leadership training in the church was intended to be reproductive pastors who, in turn, equipped more pastors. Paul trains Timothy and tells him to entrust his training to others (II Tim. 2.2). This form of training was life-on-life—an apprenticeship in which a seasoned pastor discipled and mentored an emerging leader as they did ministry, prayed, and studied Scripture together.
This “apprenticeship” model was used for centuries and it had numerous advantages. Character, skills, and knowledge were constantly developed together. There was continuous modeling and guidance in a pastoral way of life. The training was contextual—deeply embedded in the life of a local church.
For most of church history, seminaries as we know them – based on the “university” model – never existed. It was only in recent centuries that the university model has replaced the apprenticeship model in some parts of the world.
But now there is a new movement in North American theological education called Competency-Based Theological Education (CBTE). This model combines the strengths of the apprenticeship and university models. CBTE is an ancient-future form of training that is embraced by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accrediting body.
Calvin Theological Seminary has joined this movement. Their new Empower program is seeking to collaborate with partners like 222LS to provide this new form of education.
Traditional Seminary education is 39 Credits at $561/credit hour for a total of $21,879 + books, tech, travel, and fees.
Tuition will be a subscription model rather than a cost per credit hour.
CTS Scholarship: $200/mo
Multiply222 Scholarship: $200/mo
Classis SE Scholarship: $275/mo
Target Cost of Masters Degree: $3000
Target Monthly Cost: $200
The ultimate goal of this educational program will not simply be the training of students. The ultimate goal will be the raising up of mentors who can teach students to become mentors themselves. 222Leadership Seminary is undertaking this project with the ultimate goal of multiplying itself through this multiplication of mentors. 222Leadership Seminary will not be thought of as existing in any one geographical location, but rather will exist wherever there are qualified mentors who can extend this system of multiplication.
The 222Leadership Seminary program exists with:
A deep desire for God’s glory,
A deep desire to unleash the Gospel’s power (saving souls/transforming lives),
A deep desire for the church to reach its full redemptive potential,
And a deep desire to be on the mission of God.
